Common Sense
If there is one thing as a parent I want to instill in my kids, it is common sense (besides being a successful, self confidant, independent adult)! And this following reminded me of how common sense is one thing that many young adults don't have. It could be what leads to the entitlement and instant gratification part of the next generation but that is to discuss for a different day. For now, just enjoy one of my many forwarded emails!
Thought y'all should read about the passing of a Dear Friend.
Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape.
He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as knowing when to come in out of the rain, why the early bird gets the worm, life isn't always fair, and maybe it was my fault.
Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you earn) and reliable parenting strategies (adults, not children, are in charge).
His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a six-year- old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.
Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job they themselves failed to do in disciplining their unruly children.
It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun lotion or a Band Aid to a student but could not inform the parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.
Common Sense lost the will to live as the Ten Commandments became contraband, churches became businesses, and criminals received better treatment than their victims.
Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar can sue you for assault.
Common Sense finally gave up the will to live after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.
Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust; his wife, Discretion; his daughter, Responsibility; and his son, Reason.
He is survived by three stepbrothers; I Know My Rights, Someone Else Is To Blame, and I'm A Victim. Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone.
If you still remember him, pass this on. If not, join the majority and do nothing.

Quick update
Just thought I would give everyone a quick update on our lives...busy, busy, busy!!! I think that just about covers it :) Just kidding. Since my last post I have been to two wedding showers, a dinner cruise, to the dells swimming, home to Manitowoc and up to Oconto Falls for work. First the showers: I went to a bridal shower for my cousin's fiance on Lake Monona two weekends ago. Her aunt and uncle live on the lake and it was BEAUTIFUL!! It is so strange to think of living on a lake right in Madison. I can't even imagine what it is like to wake up to that every day!
That night Josh and I went on a dinner cruise for work on the "other big lake" in Madison...I can't keep them straight! It was with everyone from work and it was a lot of fun (see picture). I would definitely recommend it.
Last weekend we were in Manitowoc for my cousin's "couple wedding shower". Which ends up being a big party. It was a lot of fun and the skit went over well. This years skit featured 'Towoc Bridal' with many local entries singing songs of many genres. There were a lot of kids there and everyone seemed to get a long well. Hunter must have run his little legs off...he napped for more then 4 hours both Saturday and Sunday!
As for bad news...my Ipod broke last week and it has to be sent in...I am lost without it! I like to listen to ESPN radio but I don't like listening to Baseball stuff and that is what is on at this time of year! Well I best be going!

Fun on the Lake
I thought I would post some pictures from our long weekend up at the lake. We had a great, relaxing time. It was hot but we did have some time to get out on the water and enjoy the sunshine! I think Hunter found his new favorite toy...the jetski!
